The Arm Breakage - Shinya Aoki vs. Mizuto Hirota DREAM

I've seen a lot of fights in my time, and this one still had me cringe just a bit when they lifted up his lifeless broken arm.

As much as I do love UFC, I'm always offended when people talk as if MMA began, exists and will end with only UFC.  People forget that there was once Pride, where a lot of the great UFC fighters came from, and there's other organizations such as Strikeforce or one of my favorites, DREAM!!

Anyway a friend of mine found the video for this infamous fight I was hearing about and man was the hype lived up to.  My final thoughts towards the end of the video was "dude shoulda tapped out."
Here are some quotes on what Aoki had to say about breaking Hirota's arm.

“When I had his arm behind his back, I could feel it popping,” Aoki said. “I thought, 'Well, this guy's pride just won't let him tap, will it?' So without hesitation, I broke it. I heard it break, and I thought, 'Ah, there, I just broke it.' I was stopped afterward, but even if I hadn't been, continuing to break it more would have been fine by me.”

Every once in a while, I like to go back, read old posts and see what my current thoughts are. Currently after watching this fight again, it makes me incredibly glad that Aoki got pwned in his last Strikeforce match. I keep hearing this noise through the web that Hiroto should have tapped, but seriously if he did, how was anyone gonna see, both arms were under Aoki.

Here's an updated video on him crying backstage after the fight.
