"Every print is unique, engineered specifically for each individual garment."

This spring McQueen took us on an underwater journey, through the depths of the abyss, guided by Poseidon and I was captivated by the amphibious prints, structural tailoring from soft fabrics, sculptured shoes and the fascinating array of colors that shattered the cerebral senses.

I knew that I wanted a piece from both his final two collections that visually were two worlds apart, but shared the same common thread of McQueen's mastery for detail, and immeasurable ingenuity.

Many looks from his collection, are quite expensive, and due to the level of craftsmanship and innovative creativity, I can see why.  From his Fall Winter 09,  There were two shirts I wanted, each $195, that had prints in which were hand drawn and hand painted by McQueen (Eagle Sketch, Skull print painted by his fists).

I nearly collapsed when I saw detailed images of the  Snake Print De-Manta clutch, from the signature vibrant snake print, to the clever structure and just how unique it is. Also compared to the $1000-$5000 dresses and $1200 clutches, for $495, I nearly thought the price was mistake.  I'm not saying it's inexpensive, but I am saying compared to the other items, it's priced quite well.  It was sold out online, so I contacted the store and fortunately Hugh at the Los Angeles location said that they haven't received a shipment yet, so took my card and put me down for one. I'm number 4 on the waiting list.  The Las Vegas store said they may only receive 5-15 on their first shipment, and L.A 15-20, in which a re-order could take months.

Although the snake print is sold out online, the blue Jellyfish psychedelic one is still available, or you can contact one of the stores to reserve.

The price does sting a bit, especially since my other recent additions to the closet and routine bills, but it's love.  Definitely not for the person looking for a practical utility bag, but I treat fashion like art and it's all about expression.  I'll take live photos once received.

Quote from McQueen's "Plato's Atlantis" collection summary:
"When Charles Darwin wrote The Origin Of The Species, no one could have known that the ice cap would melt, that the waters would rise and that life on earth would have to evolve in order to live beneath the sea once more or perish. We came from water and now, with the help of stem cell technology and cloning, we must go back to it to survive.
When the waters rise, humanity will go back to the place from whence it came.
but then again, I’m no Nostradamus…’ – Alexander McQueen
Make no mistake, this is not sci-fi, this is evolution.

Alexander McQueen takes his signature engineered print to new technological heights. ..."
