NFL Free Agency begins Friday, without a salary cap

So... What does this mean ?

I think this will take 5 years to see the outcome of this non capped league, unless they come to a new agreement. With no guaranteed contracts, it will be interesting to see what teams are willing to spend on free agents. Will this become another MLB? Will we see the era of big market and small market teams?

Everyone knows these owners have lots of money, and they will spend in order to make their team competitive. However, how much are they willing to spend in order to do this ? If they realize their team is going to suck, I can assure you they will probably not spend any money what so ever. Likewise, i'm sure we will see teams who are contenders spend a ton of money on players to insure they make it to the SuperBowl.

This is the first time I've seen a league go from a capped system to an uncapped system; it is usually the other way around. I will agree with the owners that the current CBA is not working, and will have to be revamped. As a player it is also a frightening time, where the "role players" could take a HUGE pay cut, in order for teams to spend money on the best free agent available.

Let the bidding begin!
