Since my first fitness diary entry, a few months ago, I've been prepping for this 10k mud run that we survived this past Saturday. A big part of that preparation has been Crossfit.
While I still have a long ways to go on my strength and conditioning, I can run further than I ever have, do push ups without knee support (1st few rounds anyway haha), complete at least 5 double unders sequentially and now Kipping pull ups (sometimes w/ a lil help from a thin band). It's a crazy feeling.
I was actually in a lazy mood today and was dreading crossfit, but I'm so glad I went. The trainers at Crossfit Socal are amazing and even did my first hand stand today.
Our workout of the day (after warmup of 400m run, squats/pullups/pushups) was:
10 minutes AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of
5 pull ups
10 pushups
15 squats.
My arms feel like death right now and everything is sore. There's something quite sadistic about working this hard, I've found myself craving the soreness and enjoying being beaten up by a workout. Some days anyway :D
Physically on the outside I haven't seen any drastic changes yet, but inside things are feeling great. I couldn't be more grateful for the voices over the past few months that encouraged me to get my lazy butt up to do something, do one more rep and just always push a bit harder. It's a great parallel to every other goal we set in life as well.
I'm off to take a cold shower to recover and noms on some smoked salmon with arugula, then edit photos.
